We all have our heroes.

Wolfgang is showing his antique heroes in a different light.

Sasa is going for her working class heroes in an exceptional green.

Daniel has his boxing heroes.

Kev found it in the Chinese construction worker, being the solid foundation of Chinese growth.

And George made me see the hero in each and every mother, and nurse as well...

My tribute today is to all the national staff in all development and emergency aid programs around the world!
They make it happen, not the expats flying in for half a year or a year. (I can know, I'm one of those)

It comes down to all those thousands of nurses, assistants, construction workers, volunteers, drivers, guards, community workers, administration personnel, water and sanitation specialists and project officers.

They are the most vulnerable in such projects.
They stick out their neck each and every day.
They are the oil that make the machine go.
They are my heroes!!

When heroes go down
They go down fast
So don't expect any time to
Equivocate the past

When heroes go down
They land in flame
So don't expect any slow and careful
Settling of blame

I heard you say
You look out for the feet of clay
That someone will be falling next
Without the chance
For last respects
You feel the disappointment

When heroes go down
Man or woman revealed
You can't expect any kind of mercy
On the battlefield

When heroes go down
Suzanne Vega

For my heroes. That they may not go down.

Bonjour Denis
Bon WE
Charles

it is not the strongest photograph - photographically - but emotionally this is such a wonderful testament to all those people whose work you know and that brings something more to an image than being a mere photograph ........the stories such a thing can tell........

take care my friend and bring us 200 more!

Damn...I see I'm missing alot of your shots. I like this one. A good solid feeling and looking shot. The B&W and older type "fuzziness" (yes, I know, probably the scan) looks great. A great 200th post.

Great work as always.
John (from Damascus)

PS - don't want to get too detailed because I'm on a 1980 13 inch monitor here...
