Photographer’s Note

I am very sure this is not a pleasant picture, but I want to show the real life in Luanda, this place is one of the most important fish markets in Luanda visited by many people, low-class, mid-class and high-class.
When I was shooting this picture there were a group of boys ages varying from 25-35, and they spoke out loud -"These people only come here to take pictures!"...I know for a fact the problem is not only with the government, but also with their own people, they do not bother to live in between the rubbish, they do not complain and they do not do anything about it, they just contribute with the rubbish we see here...

You are absolutely right, the real life in Luanda is raw, as I experienced it for the last month, since I'm living here myself now in Maianga.
On the other hand..I feel strongly that we need to show the world also the strength and relsiliance, the hope so to say. Your last phrase though, is unfortunately absolutely correct. Perhaps something to discuss over a Cuca ?

Neste caso, teria sido mais interessante concentrar a atenção no mercado do que no lixo. Com um enquadramento a partir daquela ilha verde esperança em direcção à água, terias dado ênfase ao mercado sem deixar de mostrar o lixo.
Como dizes na nota, e bem, o povo também é muito responsável pelo estado das coisas.

"not a pleasant picture" is your forte. You capture the situation well the ocean ... the trash .. and the vibrant colorful people interact thoughtfully.
