Photographer’s Note

This was not "one of the" but the most devasted city from the Angolan civil war, Kuito in Bié's province, the fightings between the Unita Rebels and MPLA reached amazing less than 50 meters away from each other.

It's important that we show this tipe of tragedy.
In the news broadcast we see the devastation and the horror, but only for a few days...and what happened next?

This is one example of the need for power whatever the consequences and the two sides are guilty in this process.

Como já foi dito, é importante mostrar isto. Não porque seja bonito mas para que as pessoas não se esqueçam do que foi feito em Angola. Vivi muitos anos no Kuito (antiga Silva Porto) e lembro-me muito bem deste edifício.
Mas, uma observação. Como angolano que és, devias saber um pouco mais sobre o teu país. A cidade do Kuito é a capital da Província do Bié e o município do Cuito-Cuanavale fica na Província do Cuando Cubango.

I was brought here by the picture you loaded today... I think this one somehow hits me much harder than the other. I am sorry you have not received more feedback for this as its a really eye-opening photograph.

I don't have much to add unfortunately - I will just add it to my favourites instead...
