Photographer’s Note

"A solitary moment in Africa is food for the soul..."

That's what a T-shirt i bought in South Africa says... And I think i got the idea, ;-) when i took this picture from a friend of mine that went to Angola with me.

This is the "Buraco" beach in Angola. A very plain beach, very beautiful. It seems endless for all sides. Bare signs of civilization can be seen, even tough it is 30km from Luanda, the crazy capital.

The African situation, the people's beauty, joy and poverty make you think and reflect a lot. Face the reality and you end up feeling ashamed for desiring a better car or fancy clothes. My final conclusion is that my personal problems are ridiculous enough to be ignored: they have real problems.

C'est vrai que nous ne sommes seulement un grain de sable dans tout cette univer, et que nos problème sont parfois très peu à comparer de toutes les guerres et autre drame humain qui se joue dans le monde. Très belle photo.

A great shot and i love the emptiness and serenity here. I would have fixed the tilt as i find the horizon is a little distracting.

Yes I agree, going to a nation with such needs just puts our petty ones in place!! Looks like a beautiful beach! I think the title would have been more effective if perhaps you cut out the other person (if that is what it is!?) in the distance... But I like the simplicity of the photo well done!

Essa foto ficou bem interessante, com a imagem da pessoa "perdida" na imensidão do mar. As cores ficaram muito boas. Cê chegou a pegar uma praia lá em Angola?
