Pungo Andongo, the black rocks in North West Angola.
As spectacular as any other world-wonder these black rocks look out over the African savanne landscape. Scorched soil...Burning Heat, Up there you feel very much alive. Angola is home to some very not known treasures of this world. Perhaps this will change someday. This region was one of the fierced battlegrounds during the long civil war that ravaged this country. You will find plenty of scars that will take long to heal. Even to come here you have to take care of landmines. Don't step of the track if you want to take a leak ! Angola has so much potential in every way......when I came here i was eager to get out as fast as I could, now I start loving Angola.....

Hello Jan,
Very interesting and destroyed landscape. Everything looks burned and the the green tree in the foreground brings a colorful contrast to the scorched earth. Great perspective from high ground.
Regards,
Erdem

Jan, nice shot, at first I thought ir was grass then I realized it was trees in the valley, very sad but impressive looking. Nice note explaining what this is. Well seen.

Hello Jan,
very well said words, Angola has potential that's right, but you really mean the country itself of it's people, when I think about that it brings me hope and then suddenly like in a blink of an eye it takes that hope away again...it is the dilemma I am living everyday since I have arrived in Luanda.
I am in Cape Town at moment, I came for my baby boy birth you can visit here Rafael. Hope to meet you as soon as possible so we can take those trips together.
Kind regards,
Nelson Viegas

i am fascinated with the colors, the softness of the trees/grass/bushes and the light here. looks very beautiful. and very dry. great note, by the way...

Excellent colors and textures. I like the various kinds of brown, the grey and the touches of green. Unusual landscape.

Andreea

Hello Jan,
That's an incredible place and definitely a location that unfortunately few will have the chance to see it.
Great Photo!
