This was the end of a really sunny day, the best moment to take some pictures of the former franciscan monastery on the heights of Luanda, main city of Angola.
Today, this place is a poor museum with an old collection of weapons taken from rebels & ennemies by the Angolan Army Forces.
In spite of the lack of maintenance, this proud building is a massive & colourful heritage from the portuguese influence over this country.
Here, no evidence of the surrounding landscape. Guess what ? Below this hill, you can see the town and the endless shanty town.

Nice opening shot. The colors are great and the building looks really nice. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the half tree on the right. Anyway, I like it. Do you happen to have any images of the shanty town? That would be nice to see. Good work and welcome to TE!

Very nice composition, I like idea of the tree shadow casts on wall.

lovely scene! I'm also bothered by the framing. The left tree - I think you need to include all of it, or crop off enough so that it doesn't look like an accident - say to the pedestal, or the trunk. The shadows are pretty.

Welcome Steve. Very nice image. Lovely late afternoon light and the colours are great. Interesting subject. I am not bothered about the amputation of part of the tree on the left - it is not a distraction to the picture as a whole. great shot!!

Very good/original composition.
I like it very much.
Aloso like the colors, the reds give it a fantastic touch against the whites.

Hi Steven, you really come around in the world. I like this shoot a lot - you capture a nice composition of harmony between the beautiful tree and the historical fort. I would like to sit there and write something clever...

Excellent photo. I love the colors but wish there was a better view of the canon.

linda foto, captura bem a calma e o ar carregado de séculos que essas construções transmitem.
Essa árvore é um flamboyan?
Obrigada pelos comentários e sugestões sobre minhas fotografias:-)

This is a beautiful photo. The color of the red flowers on the tree contrast nicely with the blue sky and white building. The canon in the back ground is a nice added feature too.

Nice capture Steve, I like the tree and it's long shadow cast on the white wall. I wonder though whether the composition would not be stronger if you cropped of what remains of the tree on the right. Worth a try I think!:)

Hi Steven, I love this shot. A simple composition, but very striking because of the great sharpness, the wonderful soft light and the interesting deatil of the red flowers, Portuguese architecture and cannon. Nice one!

Beautiful and lovely composition. Very simple and well done !!!
It remains me in some way a typical tree from my city called: TOBOROCHI. But porbably your is smallest than the one we have. Take a look the link on TOBOROCHI to see the tree.
Have a nice WE.
