When I came to Algeria I was very much surprised about green valleys, rich soil and all but barren dry desert I expected. Nevertheless, this green face is true only in the valleys near Mediterranean Sea. More to the south true deserts start.... and apparently never end. The picture shows a beautiful valley behind, that is below south flanks, away of the sea shore, of Djurdjura Mountains south-east of the capital Alger, which snow capped mountain peaks give a nice background to green fields and olive trees in the valley bottom. After one sees that it is not difficult to believe that north shores of Africa have really been culturally highly developed in the history.
Scanned by Nikon CoolScan ED VI. Cropped slightly and resampled to 800 pix width, Curves to adjust contrast and tonal gradation. Sky masked using Magic Wand mask tool and blurred 1 pix radius. Mask inverted. Sharpened using Unsharp Mask tool, level 56, 1 pix radius. JPEG level 30 (Corel PhotoPaint notation).

How nice colors this photo has!
I really like it, first cause i love landscape photos, and secondly cause of so good colors. The green of the field with yellow from the flowers, the mountains in the back and such a beautiful sky. Really nice!

As you note, the most surprising thing here is that this shot is from Algeria. Using a tree as part of the composition makes your life a little harder, as it's hard to position it in such a way that it doesn't block out the mountains in the background, but you've done a good job here.
On my monitor, this one seems to have a blue cast. Probably worth running it through Auto Levels.

yes, really nice view; good composition with forms and colors - blue and green, the tree is well located, enrich the picture, well done!

That unexpected view of Algeria is amazing to me. The colors are splendid; the perspective is great and the the composition flawless.
I love the melted sky, moutains and fields. great picture.

Just a little correction : this picture is not related to Alger, but to the lanscape of Kabylia, seen from the valley near Alger. Djurdjura is located 200 km east from Alger. People from Kabylia have a different history, culture and language than the rest of Algeria.
Anyway, this shot is realy nice. I have not been there for 15 years, now...

too nince to be real and especially in Algeria. I have been in Alger and nearby for several times (in summer, winter and autumn) but have not seen something like this except of dusty and dirty towns and roads. so you were lucky to see it all.
