Great ACL1978 2014-03-15 11:09

Jason, that's amazing - would you believe I had no idea about this story? I had always assumed that the Bull was a sponsored piece of public art, that Merrill Lynch or someone had commissioned it. I never would have guessed at the actual origin story, especially as it's now such an iconic symbol of Wall Street!

Nice shot of it from a good angle that shows off the sculpture. Not really sure what the person crouched underneath is doing though... and pretty sure I don't want to know.

Thanks!
Andrew

Default To ACL1978: The markets

Hey Andrew,

I was just as surprised to learn of the history. Being familiar with the terms of "bull" & "bear" markets, and considering its location in the financial district, I would have never guessed in a million years this was actually created for the express purposes of art.

Whatever the case, it's a perfect fit! This city never ceases to amaze me.

Hope you're having a good weekend. Take it easy.

J
