Great mcmtanyel 2013-12-20 6:57

İyi Günler Bülent Bey,
I wonder if such things as grade inflation, preparedness (or should I say unpreparedness) of incoming freshmen, retention are being discussed at Oxford, as well.
Whether Chinese or Japanese, these are teenagers from countries that the founders of the university would not dream of having at their doorstep.
Regards,
MT

Default To mcmtanyel: Intellectual aristocracy

Over the years there have been many changes, perhaps the most dramatic being the acceptance of women in a once-male bastion of academia. In the 70s Jesus College led the way, with Hertford College following suit, to take women. The development was called "the Jesus Movement." Like universities in America, undergraduate women now outnumber the men. Another development that proceeded the Jesus Movement was in an intellectual aristocracy being getting preference over social aristocracy. High test scores, interviews and recommendations count much more than titles.
