Default To Moderators

Then photos in art galleries as in TE should also be deleted, many of them have paintings and other art objects are breaking the rules.

Hi Gonçalo,

Maybe, because of the language, you don't understand this rule:

In respect of peoples copyrights; postings of other peoples work (photographs/art) must properly convey the surroundings in which they are found. If you wish to post close-ups of the work, please do so as a workshop. Workshop or Re-Posted images must include information on any changes made to the original.

Which means you may not photograph an Artwork without the surrounding where it is shown. Maybe more of the street or wall where this poster was hanging?

The photo you posted was framed too tightly around the poster and may then be posted as a WorkShop to let us see the details, but not as main gallery posting.

Viviane

Default Deleting images

There should be a new rule. Moderators should first try to contact a member and discuss, before deleting any of their images, unless it a serious violation such as pornography.

Still waiting on the courtesy of a response, despite contacting TWO moderators.

I agree with your idea, there must be new rules, not as drastic as these, they do not let go of anything, anything out of the ordinary is immediately deleted, and I'm not new to TE I have nine years of TE, I do not I copy photos of other people's photos to post here.

Thanks

There are good reasons to respect others’ copyrights for photos posted in TE. Not the least that many TE Members have copyright notices in their notes to their photos and have been quite upset when their photos in TE have been stolen and published in other sites.

The definition of protected work in copyright laws is broad. This is also the case for the Portuguese copyright law. See: http://www.wipo.int/wipolex/en/details.jsp?id=3525

Copyrights could certainly cover posters. Moreover, in many countries copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years.

A closeup photo of a poster with an added frame is in principle nothing but a reproduction of the poster.

Suppose that a TE Member would print a poster of one her/his photos and that someone takes a photo of the poster and then publish the photo with and added frame and states that she/he is the copyright holder of it. I am quite convinced that very few TE Members, if any, would be of the opinion that the copyright of the original photographer has ceased to apply.
