Great EstudioChispa 2013-03-19 13:37

Extremely well-done portrait, Naomi! Smiling faces get tiresome; this man's expression is very interesting! The terrific textures in the wall and the counterpoint of the dark doorway on the right is perfect.

Faces are always difficult subjects for which to choose the correct exposure, especially when skin tones are darker. I have a friend who tries to solve the challenge with two methods. First, he shoots candid street portraits with a standard prime lens, forcing him to be very close to the subject. Second, he wears a white shirt and hat, to bounce as much sunlight onto his subject as possible, especially to serve as fill lighting if the subject is in bright sun. His results are often remarkable.

Have a great day!

Right, so from now on I'll include a white hat and shirt in my backpack
