Ciao Lisa

I don't see any fumes getting out of there. Is that the same with the smell?. It has been a very long ride to get up there to see the center of the volcano. Thank you for the effort.

Thanks for the nice critique. The foggy bit you see in the lower foreground is in fact gas fumes. It doesn't really show it so well. I have another photo, which isn't of great quality that shows the fumes better. I did not notice a smell at all on any of the times I have climbed Vesuvius (over 10 times now). But my Dad describes seeing ash, gas and fumes coming out of it during World War II.
