Hello Gert,
This is a fine and very interesting photograph of this city in Mali from 30 years ago. It would be interesting to see quite what this particular area looks like now.
The composition is good and we can see lots of details of the rather spartan buildings and the colourful people going about their daily business. The area on the left just looks like wasteland or where a building might once have stood.
Curiously, the quality of this picture doesn't seem quite as good as your usual scans of Kodachrome slides - perhaps that's because there are some extremely strong contrasts here?
A lovely photograph nonetheless.

To tyro: quality
I agree about the inferior quality of this. I scanned it more than four years ago along with a lot of other pictures from the same journey. I was always rather fond of the composition as such but I never liked the colours, thus I didn't show it before. Now I did some adjustments in Photoshop and finally regarded it as reasonably fit for uploading. It would of course have been much better to rescan it altogether, but I am presently too busy to do that. Kind regards, Gert
