Beginner camera recommendation

Hello!

I'm going to Costa Rica in just over a week. I'd like to buy an entry level Digital SLR, but I'm new to photography and don't know what to get. My budget is around $500.

I'll be doing a lot of physically strenuous activities (hiking, zip-lining), so the weight of the camera would be an issue too.

I am a beginner and I am from England
i have just recently bought the sony alpha 37, it is compact light weight, but the only problem is it is quiet small.
it is around 16.1 mp and has hd video recording, also it has a tilting screen so you can take pictures from any angle.

all of this is only £300!

Hi Mike,

As per your requirement, i would suggest to checkout Nikon D3200. It is very easy to carry and photo quality is very good.
