Cappadocia is high on my list of places to see, I have to say that all of the photos and documentaries I have seen so far give me the impression of observing a truly unique landscape.
the volcanic formations in this area lend themselves to graphic compositions and your choice of (warm) monochrome tones underlines perfectly the play between highlights and shadows. I like the vertical push given to the composition by the upward conical shapes, it is very dynamic and it creates a great tension between the flat, horizontal areas above and the one below.

Cappadocia is my father's hometown, and I still have relatives living there. As a tour guide, I visited the area many times as well, and I will be more than glad to assist you in the organisation of your future trip. Hoo-doos seem to be everywhere, from the USA to Serbia, but the combination of human presence (churches, underground cities, houses, depots, etc) with the volcanic landscape makes Cappadocia a unique place to visit. Thanks for your wonderfully detailed analysis and comment. Ciao. Erdem |

well, that's really interesting - having been a tour guide you must know the region really inside out, and not only form a touristic angle.
thank you for your offer, I really hope to be able to take advantage of your experience sometime in the near future ![]() PS: this morning I was viewing your photo on my office monitor and the tones looked really warm, almost sepia. now I am at home and my Mac gives me totally different tones... ah, the joys of color management ![]() have a good night ![]() c. |
