Great tyro 2012-02-26 2:44

Ciao Lisa,

Ah, ha, just what we had been speaking about not that long ago - Entasis! How interesting that, if you actually look carefully you can definitely see that effect here.

Lovely colours and perfect exposure and lighting. Amazingly sharp with no evidence at all of camera shake despite a shutter speed of just 1/5 of a second - you must have an extremely steady hand. Just a little bit of noise here but I'm sure your new toy would deal with that perfectly well at ISO 3200.

Beautiful!

Kind Regards,

John.

Thumbs up To tyro: Entasis

Ciao Giovanni

Heheheh I was wondering if you noticed it! Do you know the subject of entasis was on QI (with Stephen Fry) the other night.

Yes, you really can notice the bow in the column if you look hard enough. I have some other photos of the columns in the courthouse where it's even more noticeable.

Thanks for your nice critique.

Un abbraccio
Lisa

Default Entasis............

Hi Lisa,

Of course I noticed it but, no, I haven't seen that Stephen Fry programme but no doubt shall at some point.

Funnily enough, I've just commented on this picture of Bev's from Lincoln Cathedral and I am certain that you can see evidence of entasis in the columns there too!

Un abbraccio,

Giovanni.
