Great annjackman 2011-12-18 23:30

Hello John,
What a lovely landscape. No snow here so I envy you this wintry image. The sheep really add to the composition. As you realise I crop pictures a lot so I wondered about taking out a lot of your sky (down to where the puffy clouds start) - just a thought. The beauty of this picture is the shapes of the hills and field made more obvious by the presence of the snow and ice.
Lovely image!
Best wishes, Ann

Default To annjackman: Cropping......

Hi Ann,

In retrospect, I think I must agree with both yourself and Bev who have both recommended cropping of a part of the sky. The trouble, I think, is that I do perhaps follow the "rule of thirds" a bit too slavishly - the line of the fence at the bottom was on the lower horizontal thirds division and the little house was at the upper right crossing point. Perhaps I should follow that rule a little less rigorously and do what I used to do - crop until it "looks right"!

Imagine how much more you will be able to crop with your new 18Mp 7D! Are you enjoying it?

Kindest Regards,

John.
