Great macjake 2011-11-29 13:19

Hi John
hmmm...where do i start.
First of all, i love the architecture and the overall charm of the local area, and its always hard to photograph in conditions with light and shadow - i always try to stay away (but now with HDR, i can compensate 100% with that).
interesting how all but one of the window shutters is closed, you'd think the natural light would be a highlight, but perhaps its too hot?
lovely sharpness levels into the bg, and again, the lighting is excellent and luminous.
well done
cheers

Default To macjake: Craig, you're a genius!

Hi Craig,

Thank you for your kind remarks about this one.

But you're a genius - and a very observant genius at that! I had briefly wondered in my subconscious why there were patches of bright light on the pavement in an area of shadow and you, of course, have pointed that out perfectly. Of course, this light has been reflected off the only window on the right which doesn't have shutters covering it! Brilliant. Problem solved!

Anyway, I'm pleased that you like this one. Would this have been a suitable candidate for HDR do you think? I must confess that the shadows were a bit overly strong and I did a very slight tweak in "Lighten Shadows/Darken Highlights" in PSE9.

Kind Regards,

John.
