Great mikebottomley 2011-01-21 2:41

G'Day, Again Martin,
You keep pulling these stunning shots out of your hat, and you have me looking for faults....I give up.
You brought back memories for me too, I remember sitting next to the main line, at Hest Bank, think that is near Carnforth, when I was a kid, with my little Kodak, waiting for the steam trains, I used to LOVE the smell of the smoke, and it used to leave a real metal taste in my mouth, and oily soot in my face, ahh memories..cough...cough...
Regards Mike

You are too kind ! There must be a just a little one somewhere !
Yup, Hest Bank is on the edge of Morecambe Bay, near Carnforth. A fine old fabricated bridge there, even now.
Box Brownie, those were the days ! Point and Press !!
I used to live near a railway, and we would walk up to the bridge, just to stand in the smoke ! I had forgotten that 'til your comment above ...
When did you move to OZ ? best wishes Martin

Think it was very early sixties. 62-63 ish I remember having New Year at sea !!!
Left UK to work in Oz, as the aircraft industry was collapsing, Dad and I got jobs next to each other, Him at the Commonwealth Govt, and me at the State Govt, aircraft working on airforce jets.
Regards Mike.
