Great Ascot 2010-07-27 14:27

Good evening Gunnar. This has to be one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway, and you have had the best weather to see it. There hardly seems to be room for this cruise ship, and it is precariously near some shallows; but the main waterway is hidden from view. The ship almost, but not quite, dwarfs the grandeur of the mountains and the small settlement on the hills in the background.

I wonder if you were on the trip 'Norway in a Nutshell? I am really envious. We keep intending to do this part of Norway, but when Adrian has time off work, we feel that the UK and the family calls to us - so Norway remains unexplored.

Beautiful work my friend. You have strengthened my resolve to take a trip to this area.

Warm greetings, Amelia

Default To Ascot: Thanks Amelia

Maybe this was a "Norway in a nutshell" trip. We spent some nights with friends and than we stayed at an hotel in Valdres, drove to Geiranger for one night and then to Sogndal, where we wanted to see the Borgund stave church. Unfortunately Norway is extremely expensive, at least for us Swedes... But it is an extremely beautiful country, it is only in the southeast corner, between Sarpsborg and Halden that the landscape is fairly uninteresting. And we have no language problems either.

If you haven´t seen Geiranger, it is well worth a visit. We made a sightseeing tour on a boat (3 hours) that I also can recommend.

Warm regards
Gunnar
