Hi Achim!
Thanks for reminding us about the terrible situation of that country, where they have lived in a vicious circle since they were given their independence in 1804; too early probably, as the population had only known slavery before!
I am glad to see that picture though! It shows us that even in the poorest conditions, people can enjoy moments of happiness!
I like the sharpness of the two characters against the blurry green background! That also gives an optimistic note, as in Haïti, once the "pearl of the Antilles" a lot of the land is now bare of vegetation!
One can only hope that one day, someone will help them get out of this vicious circle!
TFS and all my best wishes for a Happy New Year!
Marie Louise.

That was just 3 weeks ago! And what happens this week! As I have mentioned in the forum, all we can do is send our donations and hope that all the countries being at "their bedside" won't leave until the country is in a decent situation; which has never happened to them since colonisation started! Well, I guess this mother and child are fine in the country-side, and that help can be given to them, so they can stay in the countryside in the future, rather than come to the capital, to overcrowd it! Thanks for sharing this picture and perhaps some more about the island if you have any, IN MEMORY. Amicalement. Marie Louise. |
