Default Re: Critics, points and comments!

Hi folks!
I found TE at Google when I was looking for traveling pictures (I love them as I love traveling). Since the very start that's how I understood the site - learning about the world thru photography. I joined in and started posting and... yes... very few points. My pictures weren't the best ones, I'm sure of that, but then, I found some poor photo jobs with lots of points. How come? First lesson learned! Comment on other members's pictures and you'll be commented on too. Gee! People are the same all over the world!
Well, I made up my mind: I'll only make comments on pictures I really like, even if they have minor flaws. If so, sometimes I point them out, so the member can accept that opinion (or not) and try to make a better work next time. That has happened to me too and it's been pretty helpful and I think I have made many improvements throughout my participation in this site. Very bad pictures will never have my comments, even if they're my TE friends. I think people do that with me too. Points may not be totally honest, but they do give some hints on the quality of the photos. Either that, or everyone in the world is very false people!
Wrote too much...
Good night everyone!
Stay calm!
Have fun!

Points are neither good nor evil
- but thinking makes them so.

Does anyone really believe that they truly reflect photographic quality?
Does anyone really believe that they truly represent friendship?

I like travelling and I like taking pictures, and while I'm enjoying the site, I might pick up an idea or two on how to make better pictures and learn a thing or two about that big real world out there.

Benny

"MONEY IS THE EVIL

rewards the site-owner
and
exploits illusions
discrediting
honesty, friendship and so on
ecouraging
the hypocrisy

money is a pure commercial system"

-- sorry, Henk, but I couldn't resist that one!

indeed, money-points makes the world go around and pollutes it by creating the occasion of greed for it ...
Do you support exploiting polluting illusions or do you put the light out ?
Anyway, if you don't mind at all, you'll victimize yourself and pay the bill.

With points just as with money in real life...

I believe whether you become victimized by points/money
entirely depends on yourself.

Rise above!

(btw, dear Henk, should you ever decide to stop supporting our monetary system, I know a few worthy causes you can donate your money to)

;-)

Worrying about who gives points to whom isn't terribly productive. We all have our own subjective views on an image and there will always be differing opinions. That said, when you see a contributor who is regularly being given 60+ points per image, it does make you wonder!

Default money/points

Rise above!
- I still believe that.

As far as banks are concerned, it's my choice not to care one bit about them. Even if they are an 'abusing exploiting system', I'm much too small a player to make any sort of difference anyway.

As far as TE points are concerned, it's just not very important, is it?

Selective indifference is a basic survival skill.
(both words equally important)

with a smile,

Benny

it's just not very important, is it?
indeed,
reason why it keeps coming back in the threads,
people who care telling the evil caused by points,
in fact not serving members but only the commerce of the site-owners,
exploiting the greed of only newbies ?
Sorry I have seen stalking, conspiricy in the highest scores too.

selective indifference
you mean by all the members avoiding the forums ?
A dangerous knife that cuts both sides, selective indifference:
it didn't cause only the bank problems lately,
think at the warming up of the world,
it caused also worldwares !
Anyhow how hard you try to be indifferent,
at the end you pay the bill,
you should accept the consequences of being indifferent too.

Being aware of exploiting - abusive systems,
it ease the pain to live the consequences by being indifferent.

cheers :)
