Good morning you all!
One more thing is that I believe there are many pictures here that should be at Trek Lens! I believe Trek Earth should emphasize traveling pictures with landscapes, cityscapes and people in their typical environment... festivals, parties, daily life (street scenes and so forth). Too artistic pictures fit better to trek lens. Nothing serious, not going to be to picky on that... just an opinion!
As for quality... yes... sometimes the picture has not the best sharpness, but the composition is awesome... everything should count! Our "duty" as TE members is to point out such flaws (nicely, politely) so the other member can improve. That happened a lot with me and I'm still looking for ways to be better at this fabulous art!
But poor is poor!
Have you all a great day!

The question of what makes a bad photograph is a valid one, and one that isn't easy to answer. In terms of TE I would suggest that a 'bad photograph' is one which doesn't fall within the TOS of the site, or broadly does fit the TOS but is poorly composed and lacking in any point of interest and doesn't have any supporting notes which might justify the first 2 points.

Even if it were true that the quality of photographs in TE has got worse the question of the quality of a single photograph, good or bad, is not relevant because it cannot be universally reliably answered. Technical quality per se has in the end quite little to do with the question "good or bad".
What we could do is to demand some notes and at lest some exif information, what is probably also what Keith pointed out. This could make these pages at least more interesting to read.

I have not so much time to spend on TE right now but I have just spent half an hour with my selection of 'photographers of note' on TE and I must say I am amazed by the creativity and skill which I have seen from them..........!

That made me chuckle - "(Edited by mod: please do not mention specific members names) pictures of the 'D' day landings during World war II are technically awful but considered iconic."!

I don't think Robert Capa was ever a member of TE....

ROTFL!!!

I hope... I truly hope it is because the mod has a tremendous sense of humor!

If not, better learn one or two things about photography!
Who is Robert Capa and Robert Capa at Magnum. I repeat Magnum, not TE.

As one of your newer and less advanced photographers, I have learned a lot from critiques and workshops. I consider them to be a reason for participation here, and I have recommended them to people who are looking for honest critiques of their work. It is dismaying to me that I may be someone who is considered to be genuinely trying to be a better photographer.

I would say that I have learned from all my critiques, and, while I still make mistakes, I try not to repeat them once corrected.

I hope there is always room for those of us who are learning.
