Default TE best images stolen...

It is not surprising that weeks after weeks, we receive emails from all over the world to get permission to use our photos for free or even more frustrating, being simply stolen and reproduce on multiple websites... (Recently, a member sent me a link to a blog where a con artist was explaining how he shot... my photo LOL!!!).

But while being in Carraibeans, I typed the word TrekEarth on the mexican version of Google to access the site... But I was very astonished to read the 3rd results provided, with this improbable title

BANCO DE IMÁGENES GRATUITAS
Las mejores imágenes, en un solo lugar...

Yes, according to a lot of simple minds throughout the planet, TrekEarth is a free buffet where you can upload whatever you want according to your needs and appetite. With blogs like this, it's a real incentive to invite more people to take advantage of our work... Serve yourself 24/7, while TE admin still doing nothing to lock the images like Flickr does.

This world will never stop to fascinate me with glorious people throughout the planet.

Correction to be made...

It is not through the Mexican version of Google, but rather through the Spanish version... (I guess that in Cuba, they link their systems through different providers according to days or avaibility, as I was on a mexican version 4 days ago...).

Here's the link to the genius who invite people to stole our images.

Once again, there's nothing that can't be done to prevent people to download and copy pictures posted TE or anywhere on the WEB for the very simple reason to be able to display a picture from website onto a computer screen it has to be downloaded first by the web browser into the computer. This mean for every picture from web displayed on a computer screen a copy exist on that computer and doesn't need one to be a rocket scientist to find them in the computer hard drive.

My advice, if you don't want your pictures stolen, don't post them anywhere on the Internet.

I have posted a comment on that blog entry. As the comments have to be approved by the owner of the blog, I don't think that it will show up, but at least he won't be able to claim that he didn't know that he was doing something wrong.

Let's see what happens... Probably nothing...

Has someone participated this to the TE administration (Adam, questions@trekearth.com or other)? Just wondering, but since the blog refers to the whole site as a "free image bank" instead of using just a couple of photos like is more usual, maybe they want to take any action.

Text of the comment I sent:

... Photographs from the TrekEarth Gallery section are also protected under United States and international copyright laws and may not be reproduced or transmitted in any way without prior, written permission from the respective photographer.
