Hello, Denise.
Beautiful!
This one is beautifully sharp and clear and perfectly exposed with fine detail in the shadows. You have resisted any temptation to over-saturate the image, for the colours look exceedingly faithful.
It certainly looks like you have captured some good pictures during your poaching trip north of the border!
However, just a minor niggle - this is a lovely, classic picture but I think your frame does detract from it a little - it has the air of a cheap postcard and doesn't do justice to such a fine photograph. Well, that's what I think!
A fine note to go with the photograph too!
Best Wishes,
John.

Once again thanks for the comments, glad you liked it. With regards the frame I take your meaning. I am trying out different framing at the moment and all comments are helpful. Take care Denise |

Hi, Denise.
Frames are a difficult subject. Some like them and some hate them. I'm not sure what I like. It just sort of depends, I guess. At first, I had no idea how people did them. Then, once I discovered how to do them, I went mad and made all sorts of horrible frames. Recently, I have tried out thin frames because I wanted to make my pictures as big as possible: so I made the frames thin with perhaps just a fine line through them. I think they might still be appropriate for some pictures, especially some of the more contrasty and brighter ones I stick on TL from time to time. Then I had some poor comments on these frames, so now I am tending toward a rather nice type of frame with a more classical appearance. Have a look at some of the pictures of Peter Geldart (<A HREF="http://www.trekearth.com/members/graffer/">graffer</A>): I think his simple and rather conservative frames would do justice to a fine photograph like this one of yours. I note you made a comment on my picture of Carmichael Church - I did the frame on that following what Peter had done. Best Wishes, John. |
