Default Help

I just was introduced to this site but all I can see instead of pictures is the TrekEarth logo. Enabling the cookie doesn't help and registering doesn't help. Does anybody know what is wrong?

Are you using an IP address, or the www.trekearth.com address? Usually that problem is caused by using the IP address. Try using this link instead:

No, I tried the link too and it gives me the same problem. I am going to try to see if somehow the cookie got blocked, although that should not have happened.

If you had blocked the cookie I don't think you'd be able to sign in. You certainly wouldn't be able to post here under your name...

This ended up being a firewall issue.

Interesting :-) So, what was the configuration issue? It's useful to know these things afterall!

There is an option in Norton to mask the HTTP_REFERRER value. I use this to disallow direct linking to the images. This is the first, but probably not last I'll hear of this problem.

Interesting. I had an error message referring to this when attempting to post to another site I have just signed up for. I hadn't got a clue what it meant. Thanks for the info.

Well, I am getting a little closer using this. I was having trouble getting it to work because I wasn't hitting the apply button at the right timing in Norton.

Now I can finally comment in this forum again, but I now I only get to see some of the photos in gallery, and only when I back up in the browser and then return to the same page. Mysterious, but thanks for the tip and Adam for all the help. At least I can see some of the photos now. I wonder what else is wrong?

You may need to delete temporary internet files/cache so the images get refreshed.
