Default Wildlife Photographer of the Year. UK Exhibition

Not strictly a Trek I know but this seems the best place to put the link to the travelling exhibition of photographs for the above.

Thanks for that... From the locations it looks like it could well be a "trek" though ;-)

I think my "closest" is the one in Ringwood. Are there any London dates I wonder...?

There's also the fixed exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London until 18 Apr 2004:

You can also request to enter the competition for 2004 here:

Just to update this, the exhibit has finished at the Natural History Museum in London, but the new exhibit (2004 winners) will open up in October.

If there's an interest, we can arrange a TrekEarth group visit on a Saturday. I could probably get the first few members in for free.

The 2004 photos are now ready for display and will be available for public viewing from 23 October 2004 - 17 April 2005 at the Natural History Museum in London. If anyone would like to meet up and go as a group, I'll be going on the private viewing next week and also a weekend in October or mid-November.

Adults 5, 3 concessions, 12 Family -
"Undoubtedly the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, organised by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine, has attracted over 18,500 images this year. The best and most creative of these have been selected for display in the popular annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum.

The exhibition celebrates the drama and variety of life on Earth, showcasing an unforgettable selection of images ranging from serene landscapes and amazing insights into animal behaviour to thought-provoking scenes illustrating our impact on the natural world."

I've been to the preview of this show with some of the winning photographers. Great images and (mostly) great people!

Though I do feel that overall last years images were better and generally more powerful. I wonder if they are the same, but just my state of mind was different then or TE has given me a more critical eye.

This was the first year that digital images appeared also, still a majority of the shots are taken on 35mm slide film. More Kodak than before, but probably still more Fuji. X-Pan images are there for the first time. For clarity, the medium format images are all in the tops.

You can now see the images on line at:
http://internt.nhm.ac.uk/jdsml/wildwin/2004/index.html .

I plan to be back this weekend or next.
