Default Infos about lens

Hi to all members

2 months ago I bought my first digital SLR camera (Nikon D70). It comes with a 18-70mm len from Nikon. Now, I'm interesting to buy some lens more but I don't realise very well the elements of a len. I.e. I understand that a 70-200mm it's a zoom len. I need one. I need a macro one! But what I must choose?

Anyone has a web page to take general infos about lens?

Thanks

Really ask yourself before buying one: Am I sure I need one? What will I use it for? Try to think of different subject of picture you'll really use it for.
A good 70-200mm can be really expensive, it would be a shame to spend so much money on a lense that at the end of the day will stay in your bag (or at home because you don't want to carry it anymore).
If I'm telling you that it is because it happen to me before. One day I bought a 70-200 for my regular SLR because I was sure that I needed one, I didn't knew for what, but I was SO sure that this lense was absolutly required for me.
But when all the fun to play with this lense was gone, it stayed at the bottom of the bag. Eventually, I ended up leaving it at home. For the pictures I take, I'm quite happy with my 28-70 2,6-2,8 which is a very good lens and cover all my needs.

I agree totaly with you. Ok, I need more zooming in some cases but I'm not dying for it. Anyway, you said this before and I ask you: what is 28-70 anyway? It's the angle of the len? My len is 18-70! It's good? Sometimes I need more wide len to capture a bigger area. What I must buy?
