Great banyanman 2008-09-11 5:27

Hi Peter,

I was prompted to browse your gallery after reading a very intelligent critique that you wrote on someone else's post. I like this shot best out of the 59 images that you have posted to date. The dappled light, textures and subdued colours of the road, sidewalk and building elements all combine to create an appealing mood, and your timing is perfect in terms of where your human subject is positioned in the composition.

If I was shooting this, I probably would have gone for a POV that was straight-on to the building, but I think that's more something of a personal preference in the composition rather than any criticism of your slightly angled POV (although I notice it has disturbed a couple of the other critiquers).

Cheers . . . David

Default To banyanman: Surprised...

Hi David,

thank you so much for taking the time to look at my photos and write such kind words about them. I'm mostly away from TE at this time, so I was surprised to find a new critique after so long. And it is always nice to receive critiques.

You got me curious: which critique that I wrote on someone else's post did you like?

Sorry Peter, I can't remember now as it was a week or two back. All I remember was that it was quite a long critique where you had made some very sensible comments on both the artistic components and technical quality (with the emphasis on the first - as it should be). I had a quick browse through your recent critiques and couldn't spot it, so it must have been an old one. Sometimes I just go browsing old links for the fun of it (and often come across some gems that I have missed in the past). Cheers . . . David
