Default Southern India Advice

Hi All:

I know it's been ages since I've been active, but I've been busy with travel planning and have not been traveling (or shooting) much lately. Anyway, I'll be in India (for the first time!) in January for work. We'll up in Mumbai and will have about 10 days to travel (about January 20 to 30) before we go to Uganda (probably from Mumbai, but not definite yet). At this point, with admittedly little research done, I'm graviting toward Kerala/Cochin area, but I'd love some suggestions.

Thanks,

Mimi

Mimi, check out indiamike.com for great India travel stories & advice. I went to Cochin for a wedding and found it a very nice & relaxing place compared to Delhi & Mumbai.

Lots of places to isit closer to Mumbai too Ajanta Ellora caves and Goa come to mind immediately. Kerala is a pretty good place to visit but a little too touristy. Not that there is anyhing wrong with that.

Suggestions:
- Rajasthan- a little far off from Mumbai, you would have to fly.
- Karnataka: Chikmagalur, Coorg, Bandipur, Mysore, Belur and Halebed
- Kerala: Wayanad, Kovalam
