I don't know about manual lenses after giving a few a whirl on Saturday. Think i might stick with the old auto focus and wait for the M9 to come out with an inbuilt auto focus system.

which means.. you will wait for forever my friend, LOL!

M9 with a FF is.. maybe possible, but autofocus no way! Leica M series will never, ever be with an auto focus, i can guarantee you that!! ;)

AF M9 ?! God forbids !!!! hahahaha....
If they do that they'll also need Reflex viewing... :(

(I remember when they launched the first TTL system on a M6.. it was already overlooked by leica-ers...)

No the M9 (if and when...) should take care of one glaring problem with the M8 - the infrared scandal. At the moment, you have to slap a special UV filter on all Leica lenses used with the M8 or else your BROWN colors turn PURPLE. There are two things very wrong with this scenario:
1) you shouldn't have to put up with that in a $5000 camera (check out the anger of Eos 1D MKIII owners now that Canon has finally admitted to the AF problem),
2) putting a filter on lenses in digital is not always a good idea (flare, etc.) But in this case you have no choice.
So will (and everybody) I too would be very interested in an M8 II that would come in at say, $3,500 and have zero problems that necessitate filters on all lenses. Full frame optional - I could live with the 1/3 that's there now.
I love the output from the current M8 though - boy, when everything works fine, that Kodak chip with the weak low pass filter is a beauty!

I reckon we got more chance of seeing an 'in body auto focus system' than seeing the M8 Mark II coming in at $3,500...
