Great daddo 2014-08-12 2:56

merhaba Mesut.Lovely image of the well and the flowering bush. The light is wonderful and the warm colours stand out against the shaded area. My grandparents had a well and so did many other people. The old town of Zadar had five wells and people gathered there to gossip and take the water home on their heads. Now all the wells are boarded up. The water is unfit to drink as septic tanks proliferate and poison the subterranean water. We call a well bunar, it sounded Turkish to me but google tells me that no such word for well exists in Turkish. it does sound like an ancient word. Regards. Klaudio.

Default To daddo: Well

Dear Klaudio,
Many thanks for your critics to my todays entry.
In turkish we call it "kuyu" but in some regions they use also "Pınar" which means water source. Most probably the Word bunar is a devaition of pınar.

Best regards from boiling İstanbul

MESUT ILGIM
