Great PaulVDV 2014-06-10 11:18

Hello Mesut,
A very attractive portrait of this older gentleman who wasn't aware that you took a picture of him.
The tespih is omnipresent in Turkey. I wanted to say that I've one at home too but to be honest it's a kompoloi.
Do you know if there's any difference between the Turkish and the Greek tespih (origin, meaning, ...) ?
Best regards, Paul

Default To PaulVDV: Tesbih

Dear Paul,

The major difference between the Greek and Turkish tesbihs (rosaries) that the Turkish one has 3x33 beads, symbolisind the 99 names of the God. Whereas the Greek tesbih has only 16 beads. don't know what the Greek symbolism is.
By the way I have a nice collection of about 100 tesbihs. One od them is been made by myself using olive huks (kernels)

Best regards
MESUT

Default tesbihs

Dear Mesut,

Thank you for your explanation.

WOW ! A collection of 100 tesbihs !
All of them Turkish ?

I have one and it comes from Cyprus but now I have forgotten where exactly in Cyprus I have bought it.
I can count the beads to see which language it understands

The most special tesbih must be the one you have made from the olive kernels.
A truly natural product!

Best regards from Belgium,
Paul
