Unhappy I'll begin to delete my gallery in a few hours

To remove your images is of course your right if that is what you wish to do. Remember that by doing so you are removing all the critiques others gave to your work. Is that not a rather excessive reaction to the removal of one image which was in clear breach of the TOS??

I would emphasise that I am making this comment as a member, not as a moderator. It is a comment I have made to others in the past who were going to react in the same way you are suggesting.

Default Bien triste!

JJ

Regrettably, our thoughts and comments have been ignored. All the images and the critiques given by other members too them have been removed. Ironically it would seem that critiques issued by danyy remain so all the damage is all done to other members

Yes, In my opinion he acted to rush and in exaggerated way. It is always better to cool a bit. Now with his account disabled he will even not read these notes. Yes, all critiques by other members go with photos, critiques written for others are still there. It is general rule .

Default Daniel....

Hi...

I am still under shock due to the recent departures of Daniel and more....
I wonder if it crossed the moderator's mind that Daniel may have forgotten about the "Repost" rule??? In my book, the correct polite and respectful way was to remind him the rule (without deleting) or even simpler: moderator mark the post as "Repost".... Furthermore, it seems that Daniel asked the picture to be reactivated and he got a negative answer....!!!
Now, many members (not to mention some of the greatest on TE) have been discouraged and left the site, why chase away more???
I am regularly checking the ALEXA ratings and TE ranking is dropping by the minute, so the method proves to be counter-productive.
I wonder what is TE management business plan (although that is nothing of my concern...!)
My 2 cents
L.

Salut ...

Juste mon opinion....
L.

Good suggestion Laurent.
The moderators should probably be more diplomatic and encouraging, rather than punitive.

Laurent, I believe you are jumping to conclusions and have your facts wrong.

Why is it often assumed in a case like this that the Moderators have behaved badly?

When the photo was removed an email to Daniel was generated which informed him of the reason why it was removed. I assure you, Daniel did not ask for the photo to be re-activated or ask for it to be discussed; he simply declared that he was leaving, and posted in this forum to say the same thing. Therefore, his statement (below) is untrue:

He stated his decision to leave here...
http://www.trekearth.com/forums/show...77&postcount=1
But this was sent 13 minutes BEFORE he sent his response to the Moderators.

There is no way for the Moderators to simply mark a photo as a 'Repost', and in any case this would be ridiculous when the Moderators thought the photo was against the TOS.

All members are subject to the same TOS and the same processes. Mistakes may be made, but not in this case. Daniel made his own choice.

Before your comment, it was suggested in this thread that Daniel's decision was too extreme or hasty. He has not been 'chased away'. I can't see any reason for some of your comments other than to use Daniel's decision as an excuse for coming on and lashing the Moderators.

Default delted photos

I don't know about Daniel's issues but I can say that I had a photo deleted yesterday and I am not happy. Moderators reasoned that it was against TOS and more suited to TL. I don't agree and have responded to their email giving my reasons. It wasn't a flower, a pet or an everyday item, but a minimalist interpretation of a meeting on a train station concourse. As a long time member I thought I understood the TOS. I await a postive outcome. But as I pointed out, not only have they deleted my image but any critiques other members took the trouble to offer.I don't even know who these may be and so can't respond in kind. For those that did, it was "Meeting Of Minds" -so thankyou. Perhaps moderators should give member in danger of having a photo deleted 24 hours or so to respond to thoise who have left comments/critques? This is either a social networking site as well as a photo site or it isn't. Please make up your minds.
