Great ACL1978 2012-08-08 8:49

Great example of a classic armory architectural style, Barnabas - I love old buildings in this style, a modern, industrial castle. You've caught it here in a nice wide angle showing us a remarkable amount of this large building.

While it must have been difficult to capture the wide view, the photo itself might have been better off by waiting for a moment where cars didn't clutter the shot - often very difficult in a larger city, to be sure.

Andrew

PS - I note that the shot is only 131kb. Not sure what program you're using to resize, but you should be able to pack more data into a shot like this despite the size limitations, which would give you better and more vibrant detail.

Default To ACL1978: Connecticut Street Armory

Thanks for the suggestions. I will investigate how to pack more data into the resized pictures

Using a more advanced photo editing tool for resizing normally gives you better options - I use GIMP (because I'm too cheap to shell out for Photoshop) and I can control the quality when I export to JPG, getting it as close to 300kb as possible. It really does make a big difference.

Thanks, I will try GIMP. Now I am using PhotoStudio, which came with my scanner, I also find Photoshop too expensive for an amateur like me.
