Hello Iain,
I like this shot as it complements your note perfectly and also has some human interest and evidence of some of the hustle and bustle to which you refer. The composition is excellent, the archway being perfectly placed in the frame and the man walking off to bottom left adding a good feeling of movement and depth.
The colours are lovely and it's very sharp too - perhaps just a tad too sharp which I think is the reason for the slightly odd appearance which makes it look almost akin to photographs which have been scanned. A fine photograph nonetheless.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Iain,
Yes, it is so strange this matter of critiques here. Like yourself, I find it odd that sometimes you receive a plethora of positive critiques for a fairly average photograph and then you upload one you're really pleased with and no-one remarks on it at all! And some people appear to give rave reviews for pictures which are squint, out of focus and underexposed for no apparent reason whatsoever, though I suspect they do it in the hope that their compliments will be returned. The other thing that vexes me is, while you and I and others put in some sort of effort in writing notes, others still seem to get lots of recognition for barely writing a few incomprehsible syllables. It just ain't fair, officer. Tell you what. Head off to your cave in Spain, have some fun, drink lots of vino collapso, take lots of pikkies and you'll feel much better when you get home! Have a great time! Cheers, John. |
