Bonne chance
Didi

On the initiative of the WWF, the operation 60 minutes for planet is renewed this Saturday March 28 of 20:30 to 21:30. They are not less than one billion people in the big cities of the whole world which are invited to take part in this movement. I allow myself to suggest with those which are interested to photograph around 9 p.m. a sight since the balcony to analyze the degree of solidarity of the inhabitants of your district.
Good luck
Didi

i don't mean to sound critical, but...
you'll use more energy photographing the thing, loading it into your computer, playing with it on ps, then posting it, than you would if you invite all your neighbours to turn their lights on.

remembering, of course, that the energy used by your server and internet login sites use a huge amount of energy.

it was actually an initiative of sydney city council in 2006, they now work in cooperation with wwf for global exposure.
personally, i think if it is for 1 hour per year, it is a way for the industrial west to wash their moral hands for a moment. accentuated by energy inefficient photography.
just an observation.

No I shall not transfer the picture into my PC during the 60 minutes off.
I do not invite my neighbours to turn their lights on.
And my camera batteries are very economical, I once reload them every three month during a half hour, after having taken more than 600 photographs.
It's just an experience for seiing how many flats in my district will have some solidarity.

Hello,
it is an good idea. And to joke a little, I remind the interested parties, that it is not necessary to stop their pacemaker.
Joel

Bonjour,

oh - my wireless mouse pacemaker battery is dying. i have to recharge it.
i guess if any of us were actually serious about it, we'd all live in a different world than the one that all us camera waving te members have the predominately western luxury of living in.
i think waving badges of solidarity is a bit of a western hypocrytical self righteous moralising toss, actually. cos tomorrow we'll all continue demolishing what's left.
i vote we all go and live in caves, eat what we find, and light fires with magnifying glasses. on the other hand, i'd need a refrigerator and something to kill mosquitos.

....and a massive population decrease! That is probably what the mosquitos are for!
