Default street photography with an edge!

have a look, this is a different way of street photography, someone in front of your face all of a sudden!

he's very offensive, isnt he? ;-)

the guy is Bruce Gilden btw, a talented Magnum guy with a big ego, lol!

Hi, I tried to have a look but it seems like the link doesn't work.

Can you paste a valid URL again?

Thank you.

Thank you, Viviane.

I knew his name because he have taken photos of Japanese mafia(spellings?).
I don't know if his approach to the people on the streets is good or bad. It depends on how and what you like about street photography. My feelings towards his street shots are;

emotionless
too close to the subjects
pointless
I will enjoy seeing those photos 50 years later as some kind of street documents

I don't think I can share my entire feelings with others because you guys have your own opinions and likings. And there is nothing like "what is right and what is wrong", there is only "what you like" here.

Thanks for the link anyways!

Well, Lauryn, thank you for your reply.

I looked also at that video and I don't like his approch either. You are right about that "emotionless" in his image but it doesn't look like he is looking for emotion...

I was just wondering who are "you guys"? :o)

Sunny greeting from Holland - Viviane

Well, I would never act like this as I do like to talk with people before taking their photos and spend more time with them but I respect this guy and the result is amazing in a way... The fact that he uses flash is even more amazing and disturbing, I wonder if he had ever any serious problems as he really imposes himself !

(Just looked at some of his photos on Magnum site : www.magnumphotos.com/BruceGilden = superb, I love this stuff !)
