Great maloutim 2010-10-19 2:11

Good morning Winifred !
Thank you for posting this colourful view of the same place as last time, from a slightly differnt POV and in a earlier part of the season.
The wild grass and flowers really brighten the panorama, which looks idyllic on this rocky coast, with a mirror-like sea, the fortress, the seagull and the beautiful clouds in the sky.
Is that a kind of off-shore bar between the sort of pond and the wide sea?
Thaks for sharing and have a good day !
Kindest regards.
Marie-Louise.

Default To maloutim: the Broadhaven

Good evening, Marie Louise!

Glad you like this view of my back 'garden'. The 'bar' was made by piling stones across the original way to the sea, the Broadhaven.

You can see them here (my 4th posting on TE - nul points!).
This one shows a more general view at high tide with April vegetation in the wall between the slipway and the path to my door. In the distance on the right you can see the entrance to the 'old' 17th century Cromwell harbour, still in use for shelter or repairs. The 'new', 1846 Victoria harbour is off to the left. Access is under the white bridge which appears in a great many of my photos!
My third posting was taken from the far side of the bridge which connects Dunbar to Lamer island and the north pier of the Victoria harbour.
This photo, from my window, shows the north pier, as does this.
This shows the present entrance to the sea which was blasted through the rock of the castle that was destroyed in the 15h century, seen again from my door.

There's an incredible aerial photo from Bing which shows it all!

It has been a very cold two days here - winter!
Best wishes,
Winifred.

Hello Winifred !
This is a really comprehensive album of the views available from your window or your door !
No need to go travelling far to get interesting pictures, when the gems are at your door step ! In fact, when you do travel too far, you don't have time to see them !
Thank you so much for the aerial view! It makes everything so much clearer !

Our first real cold day here was today ! I am praying that it was just a whim of the weather :-)) Too early for winter yet !
Have a good night !
Kind regards.
Marie-Louise.
