I haven't seen any comparative tests so can't comment on the specifics. I think it is fair to say that you generally pay a premium for manufacturers own lenses as opposed to 3rd party such as Tamron & Sigma.

One do pay more for OEM lenses. I have been using a Sigma 70-300mm lens on my Nikon for more than a year. It has autofocus but has no stablisation. You can also buy a Sigma 70-300mm Sigma lens which has more features and cost more of course.
I also have not seen a comparitive test of these lenses using the same camera body. However I think that there is nothing wrong with either a lens from Tamron or Sigma they are excellent products in their own right. Regards, Barry |

Well, there are many factors that come to play when it comes to selecting a lens and particularly a 70-300 lens. One such factor is quality and Sony’s lenses are far superior in getting the correct picture compared to both Tamron and Sigma. Sigma is also good if you are looking for a budget buy.
