Re: Alex Webb
Some years ago a french photo magazine issued a 4 pages interview with Alex Webb, he analyzed his special style by the fact he started first hand as a BW photographer and only then moved to color.
This is why you'll notice a strong stress on playing with light and contrast plus a special care about the decisive instant, which are mostly BW photographers play. These complementary approaches have led to consider Webb either like a complete photographer or like a mutant : imagine the compo boldness of Larry Towell linked with the eye of McCurry for color.
Unfortunelatly this is very difficult to find his books, I haven't seen any of his monographies published in France for instance.
