To Royaldevon: pushed

Thank you Bev for your kind remarks,
I am fairly sure the cart was pushed by hand. I didn't actually see this one on the move, but carts like this were normal features in the city.
Best wishes,...

To saxo042: skärm

Hej och tack,
Jag har en utmärkt Mac-skärm som det inte är något fel på, men vid en direkt jämförelse ser jag tydligt att TE-bilden är mörkare än originalet. Det märks allra mest just i ansiktena....

To ourania: dark

Thank you Ourania,
I was very surprised and disappointed when I saw the upload and found that especially the faces were much darker than in my original scan. I considered deleting it, to try a new...

To tyro: boy

Thank you John for your kind remarks and careful critique.

Since the vendor is a young man, or rather a teenage-boy, wearing the usual turban and baggy trousers, it was not at all unusual that he...

To SnapRJW: women

Thank you Rosemary,
I am the first to regret there are so few women in my photos from Afghanistan (and the same goes for Yemen). Women were certainly seen in the streets and could go outside without...

To saxo042: ofantligt

Hej och tack,
Så värst ofantligt många bilder kunde det inte bli när skrymmande filmrullar skulle förvaras i ryggsäcken och det knappast gick att få tag på fler Kodachrome under resan. Jag tog...

To macjake: n turban

Thanks Craig,
Regarding the guy without a turban, Afghanistan is a very diversified country with so many ethnic and religious groups, as well as various classes dressing differently according to...

To ourania: women

Thank you Ourania,
Women were actually seen in the streets, but either they always disappeared when I came close to them with my camera, or I hesitated to point it towards them. It was a sensitive...

To PaulVDV: food

Thank you Paul,
Sometimes in the countryside the foot was quite inedible, but in regular restaurants in the cities it was often surprisingly good, although it tended to be either pulao, fried rice...

To kasianowak: tie

Thank you Kasia,
Even today I only wear a tie for the occasional funeral. They don't make me feel comfortable.
Although drugs didn't interest me I would have enjoyed a beer or a glass of wine now...

To PaulVDV: tea

Thank you Paul,
Green tea is virtually the only hot drink enjoyed in Afghanistan and culturally related parts of Pakistan. Once you have entered the Punjab it's all black tea.
Not only this tea...

Thank you Ourania,
Now you have commented on so many of my earlier uploads that I am surprised there are still some left. But your comments are always very welcome.

To danos: debris

Thank you Danos,
The debris are the ruins of an old house that had been pulled down. No bombs in those days.

Gert

The Kodachromes were very good and they seem to have been indestructible. Most of mine have kept their colours perfectly for decades. ;)

I think Iraqi Kurdistan would not be the nicest place to go...

To kasianowak: complain

Thank you Kasia,
I will not complain much about my forthcoming pictures, which I scanned only last week. They are much better done and they are Kodachromes which have probably withstood the time...

Thank you Jasmine for your comments and interesting information. It didn't occur to me what this was about, but thanks to you (and Wikipedia) I can now see that the characters say "falun dafa". :)...

To saxo042: tack

Hej och tack,
Bilder från Norge och Danmark lär väl dröja, men redan med nästa bild har jag tänkt börja gräva i arkivet igen. Men du har väl många bilder från grannländerna att lägga ut....

To kasianowak: thnks

Thank you Kasia for your kind comments,
Maybe it's the vegetation that attracts Asians, or maybe this particular place has good feng shui vibes. Or maybe it is actually Sibelius. The Moomins are big...

To saxo042: inte vänta

Tack,
Nej, jag behövde inte vänta alls. De satt där redan när jag kom. Det var väl deras placering som triggade mig.
Vissa titlar upprepas gärna. Jag har sett rätt många "Before the rain/storm" vid...

Hello again,

Regarding the "favourite" status I just coincidentally, to my great surprise, discovered I hadn't done that long before. It's never too late to correct a mistake.

Regarding "the...

To kasianowak: thanks

Thank you Kasia,
I have a feeling that the Nordic countries are generally more tolerant and open-minded than some others, maybe this goes for photography too. But I would have hesitated a shot like...
