To eleparc: PP and Reality

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your note! It sometimes take a lot of PP work to achieve what I see and feel when I see a photo situation, but for this one, I didn't do all that much. I did darken the darks...

Re: Just an observation & PLEASE- NO POINTS...

Just being honest here: while I no longer often write lengthy critiques, I do always try to find something specific in a photo to comment on so as to be helpful. I might indicate an effective...

Re: Stolen pictures !

As to the initial query, the folks in question may have consulted their lawyers, but if that's the case, they lawyers are ill qualified. Any use of anyone creative work without permission is illegal...

To Angshu: Sticks on a tipi

Hi Angshuman, the sticks inside a tipi are called "lodge poles." Most regular tipi users call their tipis "lodges" too!

Thanks,

Hi John,

I really appreciated your gentle reprimand on my photo comments. As one of the photographers I most respect, I really value your words! Actually, much of my work has been doing...

Re: The difference between Art and Reality

We have over five senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, tactile feeling and emotional feeling at least. Can't we try to include more than just seeing when we photograph?

When I create a...

Thanks Clark!

Thanks for the workshop. Here's the good news: for my upcoming birthday, my wife is getting me a new Canon 30D! This Sony has been a great camera--but noisy.

Thanks again!

To vesalius: Obtained in camera?

Hi Don,

Good to hear from you! I converted this image from color. And since it had slight motion blur, I found a "trick" that I use is to make the outside parts VERY blurry with motion blur, so...

To Davidwh: Tripod and flash?

Hi David,

Thanks for your comments! I used a flash because I wanted some texture from the post, which is actually quite close to me. The stormy sky made it quite dark for my small aperture, so the...

To cam: Measurement?

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the comments. It's good to have you back!

For this image, I simply put the camera on Manual, and then fiddled with the exposure until it looked good. Magic!

Thanks,

To robiuk: How?

This is a fairly pure image. I overexposed the light a little. One thing I did eliminate was a guy's body on the right that was jutting into the frame. I'm glad you enjoy the photo! Thanks for the...

Hey, not only did it end up with two eyes, it also makes the whole slightly more balanced. Think?

To dbyoungster: waterline

Hi Deeb! I sure love your comments.

The off level waterline is due to the fact that I'm not shooting straight on to this shoreline. In effect the trees at left are closer than the trees at right....

To dbyoungster: Landscape composition?

Hi Deeb,

Actually, my landscape composition has improved greatly after studying YOUR photos, especially of the Timp area and its lakes.

I like TE because we learn from each other, eh?

Re: 2 differant approaches on TE

I can imagine another choice when doing a photo upload: (1) Photo-centered (Henk describes this well) or (2) Travel-centered, or (3) Both or (4) Neither.

Perhaps another idea would be to simply...
