Magway

The town is Magway, south of Bagan. A lovely laid back river town, no real sights only the pagoda and hardly any tourist.

Strange that my note dissapeared, I'll rewrite it. But yes the couple were posing for the official temple photographer and I stole a shit. Thanks for the ws. It probably did need brightening.

Thanks for your kind words. BTW I saw Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan perform live at Westminster Abbey in London, many moons ago. Amazing performance in a wonderful setting.

No Ana I didn't give the girls sweets these were crackers as part of their school mid morning snack. I don't think its a good idea to pass out sweets to kids. Bad for their teeth and the next tourist...

Yes exactly Gert the body and face is painted with crused seeds from a plant. It washes off pretty easily.

Years ago the tsachillas were almost wiped out by measles. The body painting signifies the long path they have trodden (the lines) and the dots, you've guessed- measles.

Hi malgo, yes I am. Ack from ecuador, my trip didn't take me to the Galapagos islands just the mainland. But with cloud forest, the Andes and the Amazon there was certainly enough to do and see.

Hi malgo, no I didn't see him again afterwards, when his head is shaved his princely gowns are taken from hi and he adorns his robes of a novice, this is all performed inside the monastery....
