To Noel_Byrne: Crowds

Noel, yes, I was there during the day as well and had the same experience. I've been there many many times, and the days are always ridiculously crowded. It is a wonderful place at night --- still a...

To tyro: Thanks

John, thanks for your comments. Yes, I was just barely able to take this shot under the circumstances, and I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out - particularly the lighting on the inscription....

To SnapRJW: Wires

Rosemary, thanks for your comments. Sadly, there was just no angle to take to avoid the wires. Wires and cars --- two things that should not be allowed in cities! They really spoil photographs.

To holmertz: Vacations

Gert,

First, these were very wealthy Americans, so presumably they could. But no, nobody in this country has anything like that kind of vacation now. Most people do not have four *weeks*.

To macjake: Yes indeed

We are indeed enjoying him; he's way cute. I assume you've seen photos; if not, Andrew has posted roughly one million on his Flickr site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/aclboston.

Have a good new...

To macjake: Nationals

Craig, I had no idea you were a Nationals fan! Are you from the D.C. area? (I always just assumed you were from Vancouver). I grew up a Senators fan in Bethesda, MD, back when the Senators were not...

To Romano46: Workshop?

Romano, perhaps you could post your edited image as a workshop? I'd like to see it. Thanks.

To macjake: Fenway

Craig, you might want to take a look at this shot (http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/photo1438046.htm) for one view.

I've been waiting until the WS is resolved one way...

To EstudioChispa: Pov

Russ, I hadn't even thought of that interpretation, but now that you mention it, I can't stop seeing it! If you cover up the top half of the photo, it does look exactly like a shot from altitude.

To SnapRJW: Tea party

Rosemary, first, thanks for your comments. I liked the light that day as well. I actually removed quite a bit of the distortion in that frame through cropping and vertical adjustment, but really...

To aleXundar: Cottages

Alekhya, thanks for your comments. The cottages are, left-to-right, a tourist shed, the lightkeeper's house (the lightkeeper doesn't really do much any more, but she and her husband live there full...

Daniel, thanks for your comments. The view is indeed spectacular; sadly, you are unlikely to get that view yourself soon. It is taken from the tower at Fort Revere (see here...

To macjake: Boston skyline

Craig, the tallest building in Boston is the new Hancock building ("new" means only that it was built after the previous one - in fact it's about 40 years old). It has a pretty interesting history,...

To mjw364: Thanks

Mike, thanks for your note. I did indeed spend a while thinking about how I wanted to frame this shot and what I wanted in it. I was about a half-second late with the shutter; I wanted the boat...

To macjake: Views

Craig, this particular site does not have a view of Boston. The ocean you see is an east facing shore, facing out to sea (or at least towards Cape Cod). But Hull is a long and narrow peninsula, and...

To jcpix: Level

Jason, this really was an interesting shot when it came to cropping. I worried quite a bit about the level, and decided that since I couldn't get all the lines to be straight, I'd just worry about...

To delpeoples: Thanks

Lisa, thanks. I love this shot as well, and I was really surprised when it got almost no attention on the site. So I'm glad to hear that it's not just that I have poor taste :)

Enjoy the beer,...

Wade away

Russ, wade away. Your comments are welcome. I think I too prefer the original. With respect to "cruft", I meant to say on the *right* side - I could have gotten rid of some of the stuff on the right...

Yeah, I did - funny, Rosemary suggested the same thing on the lobster pot shot, and I'd considered and rejected it there as well. I think perhaps she was right on the lobster pots, especially as...
