Exclamation To trevormoffiet: Bright Spot

Hi Trevor - You make a valid point about the bright white above the silversmith's neck... a window. I'll have a look at getting rid of it in PP and see how it looks. I don't really want to crop the...

To ourania: B&W Film

Hello Ourania - I'm so pleased you like this shot, it's not to everyone's taste but you have picked out the salient points in your critique. I like the fact that you have equated it to old B&W...

To holmertz: Lion

Hello Gert

To tyro: 6 meters

Hello John

We were sat on an open topped landy about 6 meters away from the dozing lion when I took this shot. He wasn't at all bothered by us being there... I think he had enjoyed a recent meal....

Hi Ourania - Thanks so much for the link to the music video. Excellent, the sound reminds me just a little of the Scottish bagpipes. What a fascinating culture!

Smile To PaulVDV: Cropping

Hi Paul - I agree with you regarding the close cropping on the LHS. To rid the shot of distortion I worked with the lens correction feature in LR and unfortunately this meant the loss of an chunk of...

To emka: Distortion

Hello Malgo - I agree with you, it so so hard to get a decent shot of the basilica, dodging the crowds and shadows a nightmare. I had quite a bit of distortion correction to do with this shot and...

To kasianowak: Thanks Kasia

I so appreciate you kind comments on this shot. It was by chance I saw the opportunity when we were driving along the coastal road. Namibia has quite a few derelict buildings but this one has a...

To tyro: Thanks John

I admit to having very few reasonable shots from the chapel..... not enough time and too many people milling about. I am pleased with this one though and although the light was poor my use of DOF...

To holmertz: Thanks Gert

I'm so pleased you like this shot, I like it very much but the subject matter is not to everyone's taste. Perhaps a bit morbid? Your idea of taking the same shot from the opposite side is a good one....

I like the link to Clio's washday shot. It works well in B&W. What a pity she is no longer on TE... a creative eye lost:(

Thanks for adding me to the washing day theme and for your kind remarks

I really appreciate your positive comments on this shot. I take loads of interiors but never feel that I have done a reasonable job. Hand held, high ISO shots with really shallow DOF are way to...
