Extraordinary "My America" exhibition

Highly recommended - searing images by veteran PJ Christopher Morris who spent several years trailing Bush and the Republican PR machine. Extraordinarily moving and in some ways chilling photos - lots of extreme cropping, usually at just below the head. Photojournalism at its best - imaginative, brave, creative.

where's the beef (are we talking about the 22 picture essay?)?

Sorry, Francis, There are some OK pictures, technically mostly, but it don't add up as an essay, and I find the mouth crops completely gimmicky and repetitive. It says absolutely nothing about the PR machine, as pictures at least, maybe there is a text, I did not see it. Shot a blank with me and it's too bad because this is a great subject, maybe he did not have the total access he wanted. If he did, his self-conscious style annihilated that proximity and actually created a distance thru artiness. IMO

Not too original, but I like the red uniform in a sea of black.

Salut Herve, I've missed you man! Where were you when I was being pilloried for having "crossed the line" for photographing a couple having a lover'S quarrel in a Hanoi cafe? I needed you then for sure ;o)
Sorry these pictures don't do it for you - i find they add up toa chilling testament as to how isolated Bush is and his entire besoted entourage. It is really scary stuff.

I think what it lacks is a clear story and the continuity that is essential in a story. There were a few too many repeat shots, like the Secret Service men standing alone. When I looked at it, I felt like it was a story crafted after actually shooting it... which isn't easy to do and, as in this case, not often successful.

Sorry guys. Uh...don't look at this crummy collection of repetitive, unnecessarily cropped pictures by this uh, illustrious member of the VII Agency anymore.
Can't understand what I possessed me at the time...maybe too much sake, that's what it was...
fogetaboutit...

doesn't do anything for me either, number of shots cropped just above the mouth gives and impression of gimmick, don't find anything chilling or breathaking, some shots are good (one with flags, the first one, not on the cake), do get the feeling of the whole political machine being vert artificial, perhaps that's his goal.
Ok shots, but nothing out of oridinary IMO.

Pictures are OK... At least some of them.
They represent some aura of behind the scene situation, some gentle political pinches, some reflection upon what it is to be around the head of the state with the sharp eye camera hanging down from your neck.
And yes...It has nothing to do with republicans, isolation of Bush, or PR machine.
Just everyday day procedures and acute observations of ANY political genre' daily routine, in any decade, in any part of the globe. Change the miniature American flags into French, German, British or whatever... And here we are... Smart alecks of political stage.
