there is a new feature on Magnum <a href="http://www.magnumphotos.com/c/htm/FramerT_MAG.aspx?V=CDocT&E=2TYRYD7XLHU8&DT=DOC">SYRIA. Damas</a> by Gueorgui Pinkhassov and...
I don't get those photos, terrible stuff IMHO, nothing is going on in them, bad light, bad compositions...
what is going on? will anybody publish those photos? are they good and i just don't understand it?

i have the same feeling. they are really nothng special, it seems to me. they look like the bad attempts of someone else less talented trying to be pinkhassov (ahem!). i don't get it either. especially i don't understand why he seems to have forsaken his colour palette for murky browns and greys. if anyone does get it, fill me in.

I guess its hard for a pro photographer to do something different, and Pinkhassov is doing something different by taking bad shots. maybe its the new trend - once you know how to take good photos then forget it all and relearn how to take bad ones.
I expect you can tell I dont like them.

i don't get them. but they are all consistent with each other. ex, they all have a very bright spot almost like inserted in to the dark tones..
