I was just wondering how often is the "Map of Photographed Countries" updated? In the past it was updated daily, right?
I have noticed the map with the regions was updated next day for me, but the map of the countries was not for several days.

I mean it is pity anyway that the map with the countries is so tiny. In Europe you cannot even distinguish between smaller countries.
Surprisingly many regions are not well done. Antarctic is not visible at all and Greenland does not label even for the people who visited it.
I guess the map in the beta version will not be updated at all, right? This was not updated for over a year already.

I know it is not a big deal, but now when so many friends are leaving to other forums, the only thing which makes TE special are well done maps and regions.

Regards,
Mariusz

It seems that the photo which I uploaded 4 days ago was updated on my map today. I am curious if the photo which I uploaded today is going to be updated in 4 days as well or is it always Wednesday when they update the map?

The basic answer is, The map is working. It is slow to update. You must wait at least 24 hrs for the map to reset. After 24 hrs if you do not see the updated map refresh your page and it will be there.

My map was updated after 5 days.
Funny thing I have noticed: Several days ago I have uploaded a photo from Chile. The map was not updated for 4 days. After 4 days I have uploaded a photo from Argentina and immediately after that my map was updated with Chile but not with Argentina. Now after 5 days I have uploaded a photo from Uruguay and my map was updated with Argentina immediately after the upload but it was not updated with the Uruguay.
I am curious if it is a rule?

Today I performed a test.
I have uploaded a random photo and a second after that I have deleted it.
My map was updated at this very moment for the photo which I uploaded yesterday.
Conclusion:
<b>Map of photographed countries is updated with the upload of the next photo.</b>
Strange.
And why don't you just say so?

Thanks Mariusz !
I just came on this forum today, to discuss maps, and you have said everything I wanted to stress !
The Beta map is a lot clearer ! Why is it not updated ?
Why is the TE map only updated when you post a new photo ?
Why does Greenland never appear on any maps ?
I think it's a big enough deal ! Maps were there on the site, to start of with, and it's one more thing which helps TE specificity.
How does one expect to learn or teach about the world without a clear map ?

I have already had a discussion with IB Angel about these issues. She told me she understood my point, but seems to have done nothing about it.

I have a picture from Greenland taken some months ago, and uploaded in August I think. Denmark is now colored, but not Greenland, which is a bit strange. So my question is: Why on earth doesn't Greenland work on the TE maps?

The maps for the current site were made from the maps of the past site. Past site didn't have Greenland on it. We just checked the maps, and Greenland was not on them.

If you want to see a fresh copy of your map, and also refresh your map, please use this tool:

WARNING: This tool might be deleted on the future.

The problem that the world maps , is that, since we have thousands of world maps, we cache most of the maps. A new script we wrote for flushing the cache of all world maps takes around 10 hours to complete. With the tool we just wrote, you will be able to manually flush that cache, and also, rebuild your world map.

We are waiting until our managers decide if we should add that 10-hour script to our daily scripts.
