I was wondering whether it would be possible to make adding the camera a mandatory field? I can understand that not everyone can remember what lens they had on at the time of the shot, but most people can surely remember what camera they used? Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Yes.

"Anyone else think this is a good idea?"

Sometimes you can figure out the exposure settings, but you can never figure out which camera/lens combination was used. Quite often, my feedback will be based on the camera. It's pretty redundant talking about bracketing etc. etc. if the photo was taken with a bare bones point and shoot for example. On the other hand, if a photo was taken with a camera that I'm familiar with (or at least having capabilities that I can talk about) I can give a much more useful technical critique.

So all in all, this would be a good idea. I'd also love to see more information about shots - some are just crying out for it.

For me, all infos that could help others to upgrade their own photographic expertise should be exposed with the picture. Camera field mandatory is therefore a useful move, but speed and aperture are more useful information and are directly available in photo files, when using a digital camera.

Fine with me. One can always add a camera called Unknown or Point & Shoot if they really need it.

I think it's a great idea. I find it hard to offer suggestions in some cases if i don't know if the shot was digital or film.
